The Problem:
Mechanics and dealers struggled with vague queries and unintuitive filters, leading to wasted time and support calls.
The Solution:
I worked hand-in-hand with Caterpillar’s internal team to completely rethink and redesign the parts search experience. I led UX strategy, collaborated on user research, and presented design concepts directly to stakeholders. We introduced predictive search, structured filters by model compatibility, and a scannable results layout. Every component was built within the Blocks 3.0 Design System to ensure long-term scalability.
The Impact:
This redesign directly reduced "no results" queries, improved speed to part discovery, and significantly decreased support call volume. The project was seen internally as a benchmark for future product UX at CAT.
